Windows XP and Samba shares

RedHat Linux 7.1

When we try to create a file from Windows XP on a Samba share, we receive a
message stating that the file already exists - do we want to overwrite it.
Even when I know the file did not previously exist.  If I look at the share,
the file name is there, but with a size of 0.

What config file do I need to tweak?
