Thanks for the links to the newer Samba builds for Debian.

I think I'll spin up another samba DC on a new Pi 5 and give this newer 
Samba version a try on bookworm.

I am using Samba with BIND9 and ISC DHCPD so I hope there will not be a 
problem with that configuration.

In the meantime, is there a command, e.g. using samba-tool, to clear my 
W11CLIENT$ machine password cache on the server?

Maybe this will restore the trust relationship with the broken client.
