I've also an HP plotter, and effectivelu the method explained here (eg:
setup cups queue, install driver on samba print server as per Point'n'Print,
preinstall on clients the same driver, install printers via Point'n'Print)
works for all printers, apart HP plotter.

Only one persone use it here, so i've simply installed an IPP queue directly
on cups server, and installed locally V4 drivers (that samba does not
support).

Manual, mut simple and effective. ;-)
