Let me hijack this thread:
sorry to ask CUPS-centric stuff here, but I assume that there is much
CUPS-related knowhow amongst the samba-users here.

I wonder if this would work for HP DesignJet Plotters also.
A customer has issues with this setup:
* ~60 Windows 11 PCs in the LAN
* HP printer drivers (version 3 so far, now version 4) on the PCs
* some raw queues on the samba print/file-server (domain member, samba-
4.21.3-Debian, cups-2.4.2-3+deb12u8)
* HP Designjet plotters T2530, T1600
I haven't touched this for years, so I am not up to date and have to ask
the list ;-)
They tell me that Windows 11 24H2 throws out HP-related drivers and only
allows drivers with "version 4".
And for that there are no Group Policy templates? At least things broke
now and we want to start from scratch regarding these plotters.
Additionally I see that raw queues and drivers are deprecated in CUPS
(since 2021 ... ?)
I am confused.
What is the recommended way of setting all this up with minimized setup
on the clients?
We need as much centralized administration as possible ... and ideally
no necessary driver distribution via SYSVOL or so (we can do that, but
if we can avoid ...)
I now tried to set up an IPP-queue in CUPS for that printer ... gets
shown as "Raw queue" again ... we combined it with the HP driver on the
windows side. Right now the plotter reboots with a system error ;-)
As far as I see there are no specific ppds for these plotters online ...
maybe that's related to "drivers are deprecated"
Thanks for any pointers here, I appreciate any help!
