That is a bit harsh, Samba will work on redhat distros, though it is my
opinion that it is best to ignore any and all of their instructions.
Just pretend it is Debian.

I think that more information is required, also whilst the dns records
in AD are backed up by 'samba-tool domain backup online', bind9 isn't,
so just how was the backup taken ?

It would also be interesting to know why the OP is only running one AD
DC.
