If you add up all time shown in your strace output, it is a very short
time, a lot less than half a second.
I am not sure where your 'time' is disappearing to, but I do not think
it has anything to do with Samba. I feel that if it was a Samba
problem, then this mailing list and the internet would be awash with
cries of help.
