Seems to me that the trouble is elsewhere. Could be in
netplan/NetworkManager/systemd-resolvd?

Effectivaly 16.04 was the last (LTS) Ubuntu not using systemd, AFAIK; so,
with this, Rowland, you can rant also agains systemd. ;-)


Considering that is a portable system, so some sort of 'network automation'
is needed and i cannot hardcode DNS in /etc/resolv.conf, how can i manage
this?


I've do some test, an if i put explicitly winbind in offline mode with:

	smbcontrol winbind offline

but keep network connection on, i can safely logon and logoff...
