You have two ways of doing this.

You either totally remove whatever requires '127.0.1.1' and set up 
/etc/network/interfaces

or

Try changing:

127.0.1.1       dc2
172.24.99.202   dc2.modom.marigoldsandonions.com        dc2

To:

127.0.1.1 dc2.modom.marigoldsandonions.com dc2

I prefer the first method, but the second should work, just don't use 
both as you are doing now.
