[Samba] is it possible to change the machine password by reading the host keytab only?

I believe one of the reasons secrets.tdb exists is to store the
machine password, which I presume is required when samba determines
that the machine password should change. One must know the old
password prior to changing the password.

I was wondering if it's possible to read the host keytab to establish
a credential cache and use these credentials to request a machine
password change?
