Oh wow. This is useful. I didn't know about this parameter.

Somewhat useful, - it looks like some of those connections are
coming from terminal server, and there, single pid handles
numerous connections.  Either way, I switched to log = smbd.log.%I,
so far it looks like this is happening with about 10 out of 600+
clients. The log directory now looks.. interesting :)
I'll see tomorrow what's going on in there (when other clients
will connect).
