But... what you can't do with dnsmasq is send dynamic updates to bind to
keep your subnet name resolution straight or handle failover of that function.
I'm not a fan of the forced jump to kea, but ISC has basically frozen dhcpd at
this point and all future development will go to kea (though ISC may provide
security updates to dhcpd in the even a significant CVE is uncovered)
Eventually, those of us running full dhcp/bind setups will all go
reluctantly to kea.
Double thanks to Owen for the sample config. Other than being json'ized, it
doesn't look that much different in content to a basic dhcpd setup with a few
name changes, etc.. Now how the tsig keys, etc.. will be handled is where the
learning curve begins...
There is a lot of enterprise inertia out there for sticking with a
bind/dhcpd/samba setup -- for the same reason we still have battleships...
