[Samba] VFS crossrename + recycle modules support?

Dear all,

Following [1] from a year ago, I'd like to know what is the state of the 
crossrename VFS module, and whether it's expected to be supported at 
least together with the recycle module?

To be honest I'm quite sympathetic with the reasoning in [1] and I don't 
see a general use of crossrename. However, it remains relevant in the 
context of recycle, and currently I experience the same as in [2] 
(recycle logs an ENOENT error and just drops the files). I'm running 
Samba 4.18.6 on ALMA8.

If the crossrename plugin is to be declared deprecated/dead, I'd be 
happy to have an option in the recycle plugin to enable a 
cross-filesystem mv instead of a rename. Any hint about how to patch the 
VFS recycle plugin would be appreciated (I'd expect the "double locking" 
issue not to apply in such case, or in other words I'd assume/enforce 
the target NOT to be user-accessible).
