I split this issue out from the synology conversion I was able to get the deb package of cockpit samba module) installed manually (haven't troubleshoot why build from source fails). It wants registry mode. Is there a way to "migrate" a smb.conf to registry mode. If not, it's ok, I'll use the include = registry directive. Peter
