No one else has ever complained about that particular problem.
samba_upgradedns is supposed to use the contents of the dNSHostName
attribute from the DC's AD object minus the domain name. so what do you
have in AD ?

What is the output of the following command:

sudo ldbsearch -P -H ldap://$(hostname -d) -b "OU=Domain
Controllers,$(echo "DC=$(hostname -d)" | sed 's/\./,DC=/g')" -s sub
"(&(objectClass=computer)(sAMAccountName=$(hostname -s)\$))"
dNSHostName

NOTE: it is supposed to be on one line.
