For the specific task of talking to a Samba / CIFS shared printer, a VPN
would be a better tool.  OpenWRT or Wireguard are two free options that I'd
highly recommend.  If both ends have static IPs (on the Internet) it'd
probably be easier to dial your office, otherwise whichever end is static,
or most stable for a dynamic DNS address should be the server.

You might be able to share the printer via other methods (E.G. IPP on port
631) that are easier to map over a SOCKS5 proxy.
