Yes, you are correct, you do need coffee 😂

The OP posted (amongst everything else):

Netbios domain   : MYDOMAIN
DC name          : mydc.mydomain.z
DC netbios name  : MYDC

And then in his smb.conf:

    workgroup = MYDC
    .......
    idmap config MYDC : backend = rid

'MYDC' is the short hostname of his DC and 'MYDOMAIN' is his NetBios 
domain name also known as the workgroup name.
