G'Day Ron,

Honestly, you are the first person in a very long time to think this
would be how it would work.  The fraction of the user community who can
even run a Kerberos KDC is absolutely tiny, which is why this is all
embedded in Samba.

But you are welcome to submit a MR to our 'server services' smb.conf
documentation to indicate that other than DNS (when using the BIND9 DLZ
plugin) all services are required and can't be swapped out for external
projects, no matter how similarly named or how similar the protocols
may appear to be.
