Thanks for explaining that.

there is a bug report for the 'online' backup; 
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14570

But it isn't a bug in my opinion (for what that's worth), it is a 
misconfiguration, as it works if you use kerberos with '-N'
