Thanks.

Now, setting logleve=3 in smb.conf I see messages like the following,
just before saslauthd complains:

[2021/01/27 18:05:37.247339,  3]
../../source4/smbd/service_stream.c:67(stream_terminate_connection)
   stream_terminate_connection: Terminating connection -
'kdc_tcp_call_loop: tstream_read_pdu_blob_recv() -
NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED'

or

[2021/01/27 18:08:15.646462,  3]
../../source4/smbd/service_stream.c:67(stream_terminate_connection)
   stream_terminate_connection: Terminating connection -
'ldapsrv_call_wait_done: call->wait_recv() - NT_STATUS_LOCAL_DISCONNECT'

What I don't understand is their meaning: is it Samba purposely closing
connections (perhaps after they've been idle for some minutes)? Or will
Samba keep them open unless something wrong happens externally?

  bye & Thanks
	av.
