If by 'samba3' you are referring to a 3.x.x version of Samba, then I 
wouldn't use it for anything, it will only get security updates and it 
will only get these if the OS backports them.

You may be able to store the bitlocker keys in the NT4-style ldap (if 
this is what you mean), but as bitlocker came after the end of NT4 
domains, you will probably be on your own, especially as the NT4-style 
domains were deprecated when Samba 4.13.0 came out.
