[Samba] netlogon path question

We Got 2 Dc's running in VM's who run from a freenas storage.
Is it possible to use below in samba.conf ?

[netlogon]
  path = //FreenasServer/netlogon
  logon script = logon.bat
  read only = No

Instead of creating syncing scripts between 2 DC's.
As to us syncing DC local path's would not add extra redundancy.
(its all redundant by freenas)

Or must the path always be a local reference ?.
