[Samba] SAMBA using existing users and passwords on Linux

Rowland,

I apologize because it was all my confusion.

But to clarify I will answer your questions:

"Computer Management" is the Windows tool (compmgmt.msc), and it is what I
am using to configure access permissions to SAMBA shares on the linux
server.

When I referred to "valid users" it really was the users with permission to
access the shares.

I know that there is a parameter with the same name in the files smb.conf
("valid users =").

So, my mistake was to think that to give a user permission to access a
share I would have to give this permission through the windows tool and
ALSO include the user in the "valid users" parameter of smb.conf.

Now I know that for that I must use only the windows tool and in the
smb.conf file it is not necessary to use the parameter "valid users".

I hope I have clarified and thank you for this help.
