    Yes, you can do this.

    I have in named.conf.local ( on my proxy server )

    // forwarded zones.
    include "/etc/bind/named.conf.forwarders";

    # content.. Of that file : /etc/bind/named.conf.forwarders

    // primary DNS domain.
    zone "primary.dnsdomain.tld" IN {
            type forward;
            forward first;
            forwarders { 192.168.0.1; 192.168.0.2; };
    };
    // primary DNS domain reverse zone.
    zone "0.168.192.in-addr.arpa" {
            type forward;
            forward first;
            forwarders { 192.168.0.1; 192.168.0.2; };
    };

    Add more zones as you wish..

    So now you can point you pc's to these DNS server.
    Windows clients, if will/can update there own dns records.

    This is how i run it.
    These proxy DNS servers are setup as caching + forwarding servers.

    Greetz,

    Louis
