Nobody is saying that you cannot use dnsmasq, you can, but your clients
must use the Samba DC's as the nameservers for the AD dns domain.
Basically you can run dnsmasq (or bind9) on the clients, the clients ask
dnsmasq 'who is this?', dnsmasq should then ask a DC for information
about anything inside the AD dns domain and ask an external dns server
for anything outside the AD dns domain. dnsmasq should then cache the
information and also return it to the client. In my opinion, you should
only run the Samba internal dns server or Bind9 on a DC.

This is an error that it isn't an error ;-)

The record already exists, so the update fails, but instead of printing
a message saying this, it throws an error.

It has also been fixed in a later version than the one you are using.
