[2019/09/23 09:22:09.468756, 0] ../../source3/smbd/service.c:784(make_connection_snum)
make_connection_snum: canonicalize_connect_path failed for service timemachine, path /backups/timemachine/DOMAIN\username
This is with no debug level, and "%u" (lower-case u) on the timemachine share. The domain in the path is upper-case.

make_connection_snum: canonicalize_connect_path failed for service timemachine, path /backups/timemachine/domain_username
This is with no debug level, and "%U" (upper-case U) on the timemachine share. The domain in the path is lower-case.
Hope this helps? I can turn debug logging on at any point if anyone knows which level will be useful
Thanks
