There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the dns etc on the proposed 
Samba DC.

Is there a firewall running, either on the Windows DC or the Samba machine ?

You say that the domain is forest level 2008R2, but did it start out as 
an earlier version ?

I think this may possibly be your problem.
