[Samba] Changing the A-Record of the domain.

This sounds all correct, but im betting your having multiple interfaces and the default is off. 

Can you shown. 

hostname -s
hostname -d
hostname -f
hostname -I
hostname -A

And 
dig -x wanted_ip
Dig -x current-Ip. 

cat /etc/resolv.conf
cat /etc/hosts

And you OS is?
