Ouch, that is old ;-)

Try resetting your smb.conf, there are various problems with it, try this:

[global]
         netbios name = SRVCAR018
         realm = CARAG.LOCAL
         server role = active directory domain controller
         server services = s3fs, rpc, nbt, wrepl, ldap, cldap, kdc,
drepl, winbindd, ntp_signd, kcc, dnsupdate
         workgroup = CARAG
         idmap_ldb:use rfc2307  = yes
         log file = /var/log/samba/loglog.smbdmon
         dns update command = /usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate --use-samba-tool

[netlogon]
         path = /var/lib/samba/sysvol/carag.local/scripts
         read only = No

[sysvol]
         path = /var/lib/samba/sysvol
         read only = No

Ubuntu Trusty (12.04) is now EOL, Samba 4.2.x is EOL, so I would suggest
that when you get things working again, you start to upgrade.
