Hmm, i that yesterday that this was a typo of my collega.
He reported this also and upgrade message and the not working dpkg --reconfigure -a
That used to work. :-/ 

Hmm, that might be the case, something changed here, its possible that file is a bit older already. 

Try these commands below, 
The priciple is still, if smb.conf is not correct, upgrade stops, fix smb.conf then resume upgrade.

sudo dpkg –configure -a
sudo apt --fix-broken install
sudo apt-get update –fix-missing

I'll update the file with this.
