Like you have figured out, in more recent version of Bind-DLZ it is 
required to have a NS field for it to start. Please try with the 
following command line syntax to add it:

samba-tool dns add umbriel  samdom.mycompany.net @ NS 
umbriel.samdom.mycompany.net -P

For you DNS field update, if you get some TSIG error, you may try to add 
the DNS entries directly in the local database.

samba_dnsupdate --verbose --use-samba-tool
