Yes, Samba is running ;-)

I have reviewed the output of the script that Louis asked you to run and 
everything looks okay, except for /etc/nsswitch.conf.

I would change:

hosts:          files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns

To:

hosts:          files dns mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return]
