[Samba] DNS failure

I was wrong, I *don't think it's a kernel upgrade* as uname -a gives "Linux
dtdc06 4.15.0-44-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 14 11:26:59 UTC 2019 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux"

If I'm right, the "Jan 14" date means kernel been running since "Jan 14"
but, cannot find definition for the "-a" switch in "uname" so, I am not
sure that is correct.

(Originally I thought kernel because the apt log file showed the removal of
an old kernel.)

Bind9 services is complaining that Samba is not running.
