There is nothing really wrong with using the range you have, it just 
isn't usual, most users would use a lower range.

However, you should be using the default tdbsam passdb, not the 
samba_dsdb passdb, this was only meant for a Samba AD DC, 'dsdb' stands 
for 'directory service database'.
