How about "another DC", or 'a second DC' ?
Anything but 'Member DC', that is something else entirely and whilst it
appears you can provision or join a member server with samba-tool, you
cannot, not sure just what you get, but it isn't a 'Member DC' ;-)

Just to check, you ran something like this:
samba-tool domain join samdom.example.com DC .........

If you added to the schema on the first DC successfully, it should join
or replicate OK, so I would have a good look at the DC you schema
upgraded.
