It all depends on whether you are testing or in production.
If you are just testing, then delete or move out of the
way /usr/local/samba and then run make install again.

If it is in production, then you must install over the
old /usr/local/samba or you will lose the .ldb & .tdb files.
This means you need to identify the extra files that 4.9.0 installed
and remove them.
