Yes, unfortunately Centos 6 does use Samba 3.6.x, but it isn't
supported by Samba, it relies on backported RHEL packages, so there will
only be the security updates that RHEL deems required. There will
be no further bug fixes.

If you are running Centos 6, then you should seriously consider
upgrading your distro. One of the strengths of RHEL and clones is the
stability of its packages. The main weakness of RHEL and its clones
(the same goes for Ubuntu LTS) is the age of their packages, they soon
get out of date.

Of course all of this is just my opinion, yours may differ ;-)

Coming back to the OP, he asked a very similar question nearly 2 months
ago and his problem now is the same one he had then, his version of
Samba is too old to have any chance of doing what he wants to do, so he
needs a newer version Samba.
