Ah, thats a good to know, thanks for that. 

I run NFSv4 in my lan. 
My automounts now use: 
Type=nfs4
Options=sec=sys

This should mean i could try to enable the kerberised mounts again. 
Going to test this right away.  Thanks ! 
More eyes is always better..   :-))
