I totaly not agree with that blog.

And this...
(quote from site.)
Yes, you read right: what the Devuan developers are doing is creating stability. Think about it not in a few repeating systemd bugs or about the insecurity caused by a huge, monolithic piece of software running with root privileges. Why do people favor Linux on servers over Windows? It is very easy: people don't use Windows, because it is too complex, too error prone and not suitable as a stable basis. Read it again. This is exactly what systemd introduces into Linux: error prone complexity and instability.
Really its crap..

Specially : Why do people favor Linux on servers over Windows? It is very easy: people don't use Windows, because it is too complex, too error prone and not suitable as a stable basis.

Totaly not true, why do people use Windows, because the companies want to stay mainstream and its most used, so most companies are pussed in that direction.
Why do i use linux... Ow wait better, why did I use... Novell, Windows, Linux, AS400, Banyan VINES??
Because every system has something good.
Why Novell, best Directory Services ever used, much much better than windows AD.
Why Windows, because of the (yes) ease of use. If you understand one systems you know 80% of them all.
Why Linux, because i can use it.

So why is everybody using Windows and why is samba createing AD, while novell DS is better..??

Do i love systemd, no, but i see why its used, and yes, its much much better in setting the boot depends.
Its not only the boot speed for me, thats totaly imo totaly not important, correct order much more important.
Does systemd give more complexity yes, very, and still i use it.

Last, it stats ": This is exactly what systemd introduces into Linux: error prone complexity and instability.:"
Well, i use debian as of 2.1/2.2 ( slink/potato ), do i notice difference, not really, everything is still stable.
Hardly any crashes, so sysv systemd, who cares, they all work fine.
Just like any of these :

Deviuan is only a other line to debian and yes, systemd has bugs, but sysvinit also still has ... 383 open bugs.. ( in debian ).

Key of this story... People use what the most are also using.

Last, (quote Rowland)
I would have thought Samba should concentrate on Samba code and leave how it is started to the distros.

Yes and no. Yes, samba should concentrate on samba.
No, it really helps if samba supplies good startup scripts with some basic setttings.
Now, every distro is inventing the wheel again, i see that over and over again.

Just my saying and in advance, if i did hurt someone feelings, i am really sorry. ;-).
This just my opinion.
