I take it you used classicupgrade to upgrade from your old NT4-style
domain.

You cannot have your old PDC running on the same subnet at the same time
as your new DC.

Perhaps it tried to connect to the wrong domain controller i.e. the PDC
and not the new DC

As far as I am aware this shouldn't happen, the PC should see the new
DC as if it was the old PDC.
