This is very strange, try this search:

ldbsearch -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb -b
'dc=samdom,dc=example,dc=com' -s sub '(samAccountType=805306368)' dn
samaccountname

It should print out the DN and logon name for every user in your AD.
