Are you saying that 'workgroup' is different from 'home group'?

The Windows machines are all Home editions of Windows so they don't have
a domain name. They have a workgroup name but Microsoft have been
pushing home groups lately so it's possible that the problem is that two
of your machines have joined a home group.
