I'm wondering why Ubuntu 14.04 contains packages for 4.1.6 but not
4.1.17 or 4.1.18?

Since 4.1.x is the current maintenance mode, I'd expect it to be
included in Ubuntu repos

Should we be adding a repository to our 'sources.list'?
