That is what Samba 4 is working towards, but unfortunately it isn't 
there yet

What you can have now, a single domain with multiple sites, lets say 
'USA', 'CANADA', FRANCE', 'BELGIUM' & 'VIETNAM'. You would have at the 
top a DC that holds the FSMO roles and then multiple DCs that all 
replicate together. Apart from the first DC, all other DCs would be equal.

NOTE: this is a very simplistic view and I would suggest that you 
investigate this further via the internet, but just search with 'active 
directory' not 'Samba active directory'. Mostly anything that AD can do, 
Samba 4 can do, the major failings are the ones that Marc has already 
pointed out, sub-domains & trusts.
