With samba 3 you mean exactly what? Windows 8 uses a
different encryption scheme than what was supported in
Samba before Samba 4.2. So unless you can upgrade to Samba
4.2.2, you will not be able to use Windows 8 encryption,
sorry for that. If you can not upgrade Samba, you might
contact Microsoft if they can change Windows 8 to support
the old Samba way to do encryption.
