Only .local. TLD is proposed to be reserved in RFC6762 Multicast DNS.
Furthermore, the domain suffix .lan. is explicitly cleared for use in local
DNS by the appendix G of the same RFC https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6762#appendix-G
