Fix DNS dynamic updates in Samba versions prior 4.0.7
<https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Fix_DNS_dynamic_updates_in_Samba_versions_prior_4.0.7>
Trying to clean up a Samba domain that has existed forever. And this
issue seems to apply. However the instructions are to run:
# samba-tool dns add SERVER DOMAIN WORKSTATION A IP -k yes
# samba-tool dns delete SERVER DOMAIN WORKSTATION A IP -k yes
... but what is the IP?
I have records like -
Name=PC03765, Records=0, Children=0
Name=PC03769, Records=0, Children=0
Name=PC03773, Records=0, Children=0
Name=PC03779, Records=0, Children=0
Name=PC03780, Records=0, Children=0
Name=PC03781, Records=0, Children=0
Name=PC03782, Records=0, Children=0
- from
samba-tool dns query --password=****** larkin26 EXAMPLE.COM @ ALL
There is no IP address. How can I delete these records using samba-tool?
[root at larkin26 ~]# samba-tool dns delete 127.0.0.1 EXAMPLE.COM pc0375 -k yes
Usage: samba-tool dns delete <server> <zone> <name>
<A|AAAA|PTR|CNAME|NS|MX|SRV|TXT> <data>
