Actually I have seen this done in earnest.

At a FreeBSD conference, the evening event was
a San Francisco Bay cruise, and one rather
upset sysadmin spent the entire trip on
ssh on his smartphone fixing a set of downed
servers :-).

So yeah, can happen...
