[Samba] using git to stay current

I want (or think I do) to use git to be able to grab the latest stable
release of samba. I do not plan on making any modifications or contributing
code back to samba. Looking at the wiki instructions they seem geared to a
developer. Are there any writeups on using git to just grab the latest
release ? I don't want to rely on a package maintainer to keep me updated.
