[Samba] winbind required by wine - which package must I use?

I'm trying to solve the problem described in full below, and need to
have winbind AS CLIENT on my system.
* Will one of (samba-smbclient, samba-libsmbclient) solve this, or do
I need the full samba41 installation?
* If the samba41 full install is required, must I have the winbindd
daemon up & running before I start the program?
* Does winbindd need any configuration in samba.conf in order to work as client?

PROBLEM:
I'm trying to run a windows app through the Wine emulator layer. The
app shows message below, and I was advised by the Wine folks that
solution was to "Make sure ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path.
Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution":
ERR MSG:
err:secur32:SECUR32_initSchannelSP TLS library not found, SSL
connections will fail
err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated
