Yes, thanks. From the build:
   STATEDIR: /usr/local/samba/var/locks

But that gets overwritten by the default Ubuntu install. You can apt-get
purge as much as you like, you can't get rid of their samba. We have had
to agree with our boss. Ubuntu is just not ready for a production
cluster.
